Hama-rikyu Gardens

This is a typical feudal lord garden from the Edo period, with a tidal pond and two duck ponds. A tidal pond is a pond that channels seawater to change its appearance depending on the tides, a style that was commonly used in seaside gardens. The former Shiba Rikyu Gardens, Kiyosumi Gardens, and the former Yasuda Gardens also once had tidal ponds. However, today Hama-rikyu Gardens is the only one where seawater actually flows in and out.
